This is physiological birth. Birth standing upright with a person in all their power CAN happen in a hospital 🏥. Hospital beds 🛌🏽 are super versatile. They are great for forward leaning support and a number of other upright positions for labor. Midwives, nurses, or doctors can bend down beneath us, moving monitors if needed and help receive the baby; rarely is it absolutely necessary to move us. Hear that guttural sound🗣? That raw roaring from this mama? That is often what spontaneous pushing sounds like!
Watch how she moves her head down and back during pushing and doesn't keep her chin glued to her chest like we are so often told to do when pushing whileblying on our back. She knows exactly how to move and when. Hear how the care provider asks how she wants to deliver (hands and knees, etc), but says not like this! However, she ignores that question and answers it by continuing to push in the position she's in and quickly delivers her 👶🏼..And that smile after🤱🏼!! Listen to birthing parents. Follow them. They know exactly what they need to do!✨️

~This is what taking charge of your birth can look like. @kjmcentire knew exactly what she wanted for her third birth, which included feeling supported and empowered. After an out of hospital birth with her second, she felt a pull to be with her previous midwife, Heather Scott, CNM (who is amazing by the way) at a local hospital. We arrived and this video was taken just 7 minutes after we got to the room. Heather was on her way but baby girl wasn’t waiting for anyone!

I reached out to @getboober to find a doula literally 1 week before my due date due to apprehension with having a hospital birth and wanting to have the most natural birth possible. Shamika stepped in and literally two days later I went into labor. Prior to that she had me answer a questionnaire about what I would and would not like during my labor process in the hospital and drew up a birth plan that helped in advocating for what I needed in the hospital. She spoke up for me when I was asked about having a resident involved in my care since it didn't follow the birth plan. She provided coaching throughout to help me to keep moving to reach my goal. She provided encouragement when I felt I couldn't do it anymore. She provided acupressure over my back to relieve the intense back labor. She was a God send! So glad she was able to work with me last minute!"
