New Mom Support Group

Please join Erica in a New Mom Support Group to connect about the new motherhood and postpartum experience. Erica is a new mom herself, a labor and postpartum doula of 14 years, lactation counselor, mom of an 8mo old, and has worked with women for over a decade.  Each group brings a unique set of women, and Erica caters the groups to everyone’s interests and needs. Check-ins at the beginning of each group allow for us to see where each woman is at on a weekly basis. It is the women who bring what is needed for the healing and celebration to happen!

Topics may include and are based on the group’s needs:

  • bringing mindfulness to motherhood
  • feeding your baby – breast and bottle – day and night
  • normalcy of changing moods and energy levels
  • guidance in working with other caregivers including family, friends, and hired help
  • the reality of postpartum blues and depression and psychosis
  • self-care for new moms and how to make it happen
  • baby care tips including soothing, following cues
  • following your own gut as you get to know your baby
  • self and body image pre and post birth
  • navigating new friendships; making amends with changing relationships
  • safely expressing true feelings around the transition to parenthood
  • back to work transitioning and feelings; action planning as well
  • allowing intuition to lead more than not
  • and much, much more

Receive non-judgmental and compassionate support around your birthing experience, tips for physical healing in the immediate postpartum, insight on self-care throughout the first months of mothering and beyond, and resources to support your family’s well-being. Be with an intimate group of women, create deeper friendships, and sit in a space where you can say it all, and be ALL of who you are. Crying, angelic, hungry, satiated, laughing, fussy, sleeping babies (and mothers) welcome.

“The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail- when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her. The emotional labor pains of becoming a mother are far greater than the physical pangs of birth; these are the growing surges of your heart as it pushes out selfishness and fear and makes room for sacrifice and love. It is a private and silent birth of the soul, but it is no less holy than the event of childbirth, perhaps it is even more sacred.” –Unknown
